Brenten Megee is a well-known tenor soloist, choral artist, pianist and conductor in the Lancaster/Philadelphia/New Jersey areas. Having 23 years of solo performance experience in a wide range of musical styles, excellent sight-reading skills, perfect pitch, and a solid music education, including master's degrees in both voice and conducting from WCU, Brenten is a confident, versatile, and reliable performer.
Brenten has performed with opera companies in Lancaster, York, Pittsburgh, West Chester, Wilmington, and New York, as well as performances with the Mendelson Club of Philadelphia and the Lancaster Symphony Chorus. Classical and inspirational performances, both as a solo artist and choral section leader, are his strength. Brenten has had the opportunity to tour with chorales in both China and Ireland. He is the Performing Arts Associate at Friends Home in Kennett and the Music/Choir Director at Millersville Community Church. He is currently the tenor section leader for the Brandywine Valley Choral and the classical ensemble VoxAmaDeus, and a tenor staff member with Delaware Choral Arts.
Brenten has studied voice under Dr. Stephen Ng, world-renowned tenor soloist and John Darrenkamp from the Metropolitan Opera. Brenten Megee is a well-known Tenor Soloist, Choral Artist/Pianist/ Conductor/Composer/and Scholar based in the Lancaster/Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Having over 20 years of performance experience in a wide range of musical styles, his strengths include excellent sight-reading skills, perfect pitch, and a classical education. Brenten is highly trained, confident, versatile, and a very reliable performer.
He has worked with a variety of prestigious conductors including Valentin Radu, Stephen Guzenhauser, Robert Franz, Andrew Constantine, Michael Hall, Gordon Turk, William Wright, David DeVenney, Robert Bigley, Jason Tramm, Raquel Garcia, Alexis Ward, Martin Sedek, Jason Tramm, Gordon Turk, Nathan Reiff, Thomas Lloyd, Arreon Harley-Emerson, Jason Throne, and Paul Leavitt, among others.
His experience includes being the hired Tenor soloist for an impressive collection of Major works including Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Buxtehude’s Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass, Solemn Vespers K. 339, Schubert’s Mass in G, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël, Rachmaninoff’s All Night Vigil, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Pinkham’s Christmas and Wedding Cantatas, Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living and Lux Dawn on High, and many other works.
Brenten has had the opportunity to perform with numerous choirs and opera companies in Lancaster, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, York, Reading, Bedford, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, West Chester, Easton, Washington D.C., Wilmington, Virginia, New Jersey, and New York. Brenten has had the opportunity to tour in both China and Ireland along with the U.S. East Coast. He is also an active choral conductor and has instructed and conducted choirs and orchestras the music of Bach, Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Dubois, Faure, Elgar, Honegger, Stravinksy, and modern composers like Dan Forrest, Elaine Hagenberg, Kim Andre Arnesen, Ola Gjeilo, Andre Thomas, and other notable composers.
He has studied under excellent music instructors such as, Voice with Brian Bartch, Tom Ford, Heidi Shannon, John Darrenkamp, Robert Yacoviello, Stephen Ng, and Mary Ellen Schauber; Piano with Tom Ford, and Bryant Croyle, Organ with Glenn Hough, Choral Conducting with Robert Bigley and David P DeVenney, Music Composition with Dan Foster, and Adam Silverman, and Acting with Stan Dean, and David Felty.
Brenten has earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies from Lancaster Bible College, followed by two Master of Music Degrees in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting from West Chester University. His scholarly and passionate pursuit of knowledge and understanding in music, enables him to combine his practical skills as a musician with a strong academic foundation and a dedication to exploring the historical, theoretical, and practical aspects of music, especially in the context of sacred music.
Brenten Megee's profile as a scholar is evident through his dedicated pursuit of higher education, his academic publications, and his sustained engagement with the history and theory of music. His graduate thesis in choral conducting from West Chester University is a significant piece of scholarly work, focusing on the various choral pieces he conducted during his graduate studies.
