Brandywine Valley Chorale Spring Concert – “Passion Music” – Kennett Square
May 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The Brandywine Valley Chorale welcomes back English composer extraordinaire, Will Todd, as well as the award-winning student choirs of Unionville High School. The concert features (along with other works) the Pennsylvania premiere of Passion Music, his newest composition. Commissioned for St. Martin-in-the-Fields (the landmark Anglican church located in London), Passion Music recreates events during the last days of Jesus Christ prior to his crucifixion and his death on Good Friday. Unlike more traditional religious-themed compositions, Passion Music is a modern, energetic blend of jazz and gospel mixed with traditional choral music. A very beautiful and emotional work. The singers will be accompanied by a gospel soloist and seven-piece jazz ensemble — with Mr. Todd at the piano! Brenten is the tenor section leader and has a small solo. Cost is $15 for students/seniors and $20 for adults.
